problems with file extension

HI
when I save the .cnf files on my PC, the computer recognizes these files
as a shortcut to a "SpeedDial" program (I checked this by
rightclicking -then selecting properties) . It also shows an icon for it.
Will this affect the use of the cnf files for lab 2? If yes, how can i
solve this problem?

I don't think it really matters what windows thinks those files are. As
long as they can be accessed and opened by your program, you should be
okay. Just make sure that you test your code on an ecf machine with the
example input before submitting it.
