You are not required to attend the lab sessions. There won't be any lab
quizzes or anything like that, and attendance is not taken. If you prefer,
you may work from home through ssh. If you are having trouble with your
assignments, the labs are a good time to get questions answered. There
will be a TA in each lab session to answer questions.
You are strongly encouraged to ATTEND YOUR FIRST LAB session and do
assignment 0. This is a good time to make sure:
1) That you can log in.
2) That the submit program works for you.
Also, assignment 0 will be marked the same as any other lab, but it's not
worth anything. This gives you a chance to see what the marking TAs are
looking for get feedback on your programming style before you submit your
first "real" lab (assignment 1). Assignment 0 is there to get all of the
problems sorted out without risk to your grades. You don't want to wait
until the evening assignment 1 is due to find out that you can't log in.
If you are going to work from home, you should submit your assignments
early. We will not accept "my internet connection went down" as an excuse
for not submitting an assignment on time.
